What is cybersecurity?


Cybersecurity is the process of protecting data on all networks and devices from unauthorized use. It ensures that all data is protected from criminal use and maintains the integrity of all protected data.


Everyone in the world benefits from successful cybersecurity solutions. Identity theft is a likely result of cybersecurity attacks; these attacks may include criminals resorting to attempts to extort information and/or the loss of important personal items. The importance of protecting infrastructure in society due to the necessity of all people relying on valuable structures such as power plants, hospitals, and financial services. The successful protection of these infrastructures will ensure the safety of all data held therein.


How companies choose to protect their data can range from many different tools. The successful protection of networks can be employed by application security, information & data security, network security, Disaster recovery & business continuity planning, Operational security, Cloud security, Critical infrastructure and security, Physical security, and end-user education.


Sustaining cybersecurity in a constantly changing environment has its challenges. All traditional methods of protecting data within networks are limited to  guarding against the larger threats; however, these methods were not enough to defend against lesser known threats. In order to cover known and unknown threats, a more flexible cybersecurity policy must be created and easy enough to implement.
